Children 4-11

Children have a variety of opportunities to explore their faith at Collingwood.

WorshipChildren participate fully in worship and in worship leadership.  They read scripture lessons, sing songs, wave Palm branches and butterfly wands, assist with Communion, express joys & concerns, lead processions and distribute worship materials during services.

All ages participate in the Garden service, the Sanctuary service and Combined services. The first Sunday of the month is Family Worship Day.  Children remain in worship for the entire service time instead of going to Sunday School classes.  Age appropriate worship activities are available for children to use during the service.

Special Events:

•Back-to-School Sunday (Rally Day)

The Sunday after Labor Day, we celebrate the beginning of Sunday School for the coming year.  Special worship, intergenerational activities, introductions to teachers and classrooms, and lunch make up the morning schedule.

•Hanging of the Greens Part I & Santa’s Workshop

At the beginning of Advent, the church is decorated for the Christmas Season.  Adults, youth, and children help each other set up trees and hang wreaths, ornaments and swags. A Santa’s Workshop gives kids a chance to make Christmas crafts.

•Christmas Pageant

Children and youth present a Christmas story through song and drama during Sunday Worship.  Two practice sessions prepare the actors for their play.

•Twelfth Night

The congregation gathers again to take down Christmas decorations and enjoy a King’s Cake together to celebrate Epiphany.

•Easter Egg Hunt

The Youth plan and put on this traditional Easter activity for children of all ages between Easter Services.

•Vacation Bible School

In July, we join with 1st Congregational Church in providing a meal, songs, lessons, games and snacks for the Collingwood neighborhood. Evenings, Sunday through Thursday, from 5:30-8:30.
